A Parent’s Worst Nightmare

Close to 32 Million Children in America suffer from a chronic health condition and about 14.2 Million have conditions needing special care.

In 2005 one of those children helped birth an idea.

Matt Gibson, a Nurse from Henderson Kentucky, had a family friend whose child was very ill. His family became aware of the financial strain the friend was going through and had a wild idea!

This Family is walking through a Nightmare that they didn’t choose. What if we made a Nightmare people would not only choose but pay to experience?

With the help from Matt’s family of Teachers and Nurses the first Terror on the Trail Scare Event was hosted. It was October of 2005. Close to 100 visitors came. Almost $1,300 was raised. It was a SUCCESS!

The intent wasn’t to start a Nonprofit Organization.

It was just one family helping a friend.

The problem was everyone had too much fun scaring people for a good cause!

Present Day.

As of 2023 there has been close to $125,000 raised for local families with children in need. Thousands of Patrons have experienced Terror on the Trail in 14 seasons. It has become one of the biggest Volunteer Ran Two Day Scare Events in the area. It’s the only one of it’s size Scarring for a Cause. There have been a lot of bumps and bruises along the way but they have all been lessons learned and applied.

This Year is expected to be the Biggest Event Yet!

Terror on the Trail is moving to three nights! October 19, 25 & 26 Hundreds of Volunteers will converge on 25 Acres in the Woods between Henderson and Owensboro Kentucky.

Their goal: To Scare the Living Hell out of People in order to raise money for Local Families who are going through actual Hell.
